PLOM Day 1 - October 11th, 2009
Athletes from Estevan, Weyburn, Saskatoon, Yorkton and
of course the host city Regina met this past Sunday October 11th at Lawson with
the following teams entered: Regina Youth, Regina Masters 1 or Regina Masters 2.
Young players
were pleased to play against more experience ones and learn some new ‘tricks’
during their games and the less young enjoyed practicing their passion.
Everybody will certainly be pleased to meet again January
31 for the next PLOM day.
Game 1: Master1 17 – 6 RWPA Youth
(3/2, 3/3, 6/0, 5/1)
Doug Barr and his team mates had a strong start of the game
leading 1-0, then 2-1. They stayed in the game until half chasing the Masters 1
with only 1 goal behind (5-6 at half). But during the 3rd and 4th quarters they
saw Sumesh Pillay and his friends taking off to a large victory 12-6. For sure
the miss of 3 major players handicapped the Youth team and we hope for better
resistance in the next Days.

Game 2: Master2 17–11 Master1
(7/2, 3/2, 4/3, 3/4)
Tough first quarter for the Master1 who were 5 goals behind
after the first 7 minutes (2-7). Unfortunately Taso Harbis and Sam New didn’t
manage to catch back their deficit and lost 17-11. Greg Korpan with 4 goals
showed that his transfer into the “Old Men” was a good operation for the
Masters2!

(4/2, 4/5, 4/2, 4/2)
The young athletes had lot better Game 2 against the “Old
Men’’ maybe a bit tired with 2 games back to back. Actually until the last 2min
of the 3rd quarter the Master 2 never managed to distance the Regina Youth, but
then they scored 3 goals back to back to start the last quarter leading 12-9.
Controlling the end of the game with their experience, Evan Andrew and Petros
Aiginitis claimed a good victory that gave them the League Leadership after the
PLOM Day1.
